To become divemaster you must be 18 years old, a certified Rescue diver, 40 logged dives to begin the course and atleast 60 dives upon completeing the course. You have to have EFR training primary and secondary within the last 24 months and a signed medical within last 12 months.

pvt1044, go for it brother. I just got my DM cert completed this past fall. PADI. I am not familiar with the other agencies, but with PADI you have to be Rescue certified as bronxdiver stated, before you can begin your DM. Just a heads up, Rescue is TONS of fun man, if you have a good instructor. Physical, but fun.

Agree with Greg. Depending on where you live, the next step is Rescue, and or EFR. But you need EFR to do Rescue. Where do you live???

Just went through the DAN DEMP course, highly recommended for the EFR requirement for the Rescue Diver Cert.
