Blue Hole - Santa Rosa (22 votes, 3.68 out of 5 stars as of 5/9/2012) Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, has been visited by mammoths, native Indians, Spanish conquistadors and even famous outlaws. This deep well of clear, artesian water now hosts thousands of wet-suit-clad divers each year. Also known as "Nature’s Jewel," it’s a favorite site for dive training because of its consistent year-round water temperature and good visibility. Besides drawing divers from all across New Mexico, the s...
AN UNUSUAL DIVE: Jules Undersea Lodge AN UNUSUAL DIVE: Jules Undersea Lodge
Damon - 13 days 12 hours ago.
I know many divers who dive every month, and are quick to say: "Great live-aboard cruise! I must have logged in a jillion dives!" I must be a lousy SCUBA diver, because diving once or twice a year is more than enough for me. Diving just for the sake of diving, or taking photos of star-fish bores me I need a specific destination or activity (i.e. exotic animal encounters) to make it interesting. So, since my PADI Certification in 2001, I’ve sought out unique experiences. One fun dive was in...

Lady of The Lake - Fairbanks, Alaska (2 votes, 4 out of 5 stars as of 3/15/2012) Eielson Air Force Base’s “Lady of the Lake” is what remains of a WB-29 weather reconnaissance aircraft that rests in a water-filled gravel pit just off Transmitter Road here. In 1957 the B-29s were replaced by B-50s, a larger version of the B-29. Although the two airplane models looked alike, most parts were not interchangeable. TURTLE TOMB - Sipadan cave TURTLE TOMB - Sipadan cave
Bestdivers - 2/02/2012 2:44 AM
Turtle Cavern is one of the most interesting dive sites on Sipadan. Actually, it could be considered to be the island’s unique dive spot. However, diving the cavern requires special preparation and a guide helping divers to discover the inimitable charm of exploring the spot. Our dive was supervised by an experienced diving instructor from Borneo Divers, with over 20 years’ practice at diving in the area. The guide provided a detailed briefing, drew a plan of the cavern, marking any exits and na...

Rotarian - Chicago, IL (3 votes, 4.67 out of 5 stars as of 1/25/2012) The Rotarian has one of the more exotic histories of the Chicago wrecks. A 147-foot-long wooden steamer built in 1889 at Sandusky , Ohio , this vessel spent many years as a passenger excursion ship. When it moved to Chicago in the 1920’s, this aging vessel was used successively as a dance hall, the home of the Cook County Democrats, and as a restaurant that fronted a “blind pig,” offering illegal bootleg alcohol during Prohi...

Alki Cove 2 - Seattle WA (7 votes, 4.14 out of 5 stars as of 1/18/2012) This is the most popular of the Alki dive sites and an all–around great dive park. It is protected from major current and has lots of life in shallow water. If you are on the beach looking out there is a boat just inside the marker line at about 45ft. To the right you can find a decent sized boat called the Honey Bear in about 35 ft, near the base of a bunch of pilings that are angled out of the bottom. Several other pile...

The entire summer and fall I was out of the water recovering from a left ear problem that developed because of frequent business flying. Not diving... flying. Several ENT specialists and months later, I was ready to dive and headed back to Costa Rica during the winter holidays. I was psyched up. I planned 7 dives and was charged up to take as many photos as I could with my new camera. All my dive equipment was carefully packed for travel and ready so I could jump in first day to visit some prime...

k-lambertus - 1/04/2012 6:11 AM
We are heading back to the Cayman Islands this year to do some diving, except that we are staying on Cayman Brac instead of grand Cayman. We are staying at the Carib Sands and booking 3 days of diving for the week but I wanted to know if there is shore diving available on the island. I went diving in the East End of Grand Cayman last year and it was amazing I cant wait til I am in the water again. It is 2 deg F at my house right now. Thanks for any comments....

Grand Cayman 2011 Grand Cayman 2011
bjones - 12/25/2011 5:11 PM
The first week of November Trish and I went to Grand Cayman. It is a relatively easy trip from Denver through Houston all in one day. On arrival there is curbside taxi service directly to the hotel that is easy and organized. We stayed at the Grand Cayman Resorts. It is a nice hotel and our room had a lovely view of the parking lot. We were only in the room at night so that did not bother us and it was not noisy. For comparison, I stayed at Sunset House in 2010 which was less expensive but...
San Salvador (Columbus Isle) Bahamas San Salvador (Columbus Isle) Bahamas
bjones - 12/25/2011 4:07 PM
Trish and I went to the Club Med Columbus Isle the middle of July this year. We flew to Fort Lauderdale on a Friday night where we spent the night. Spirit has a weekly charter for Club Med that leaves only on Saturday morning. There is no way to make a same day connection. That said, they are very organized. Checking bags (we brought all our own gear) and boarding went very smoothly. San Salvador International is basically a single building, two room affair at the side of the runway. Clu...
Diving the Hawaiian Islands Diving the Hawaiian Islands
michael_grieco - 11/22/2011 8:09 PM
Over the past few weeks my wife and I traveled to the Hawaiian islands and dove off Hawaii (Kona Region), Maui, and Lanai. The trip began on the Big Island, and during my stay there I dove with Kona Diving Company. I researched this portion of my trip extensively online, and I read nothing but positive feedback from other divers so I booked 7 dives with them. While diving off the boat, the Hale Kai (Hawaiian for "home on the sea") I did a two tank morning dive, a three tank long range trip, a...

Dutch Springs
lerpy - 10/03/2011 11:50 AM
Last week myself and a couple of friends took the 6 hours drive from Kingston to Dutch Springs to see what it was all about. I know many on here have probably expereienced it, but I thought I would write about my experience. Weather was rather lousy to be honest, it was rainy and overcast the whole day, that was about the only down side, and that actualy created a plus. We were the only ones there. We checked in in the midst of a torrential down pour then headed over to the unload gear. ...
Haggard Haggarty’s NOT! Lobster Opener Limit
hcdiveteambrian - 10/01/2011 5:07 PM
With the moments before passing of thunderstorms, showers, winds, we didn’t know what to expect at Haggarty’s for the Oct 1st lobster opening night. Looking down from the cliff top the conditions looked to be consistant with a wind swelled soup. HardcoreDiveTeam went in anyway and found a complete turn around within a couple hours.  We nailed it! After the 2nd dive we were bored it was so nice!! Wrapped it up bout 3:30am!! Department of Fish and Game came by and did double takes, checked 2 times...
