I began diving at 16 and got my NAUI Diver certification from Diver’s World in Richardson, Texas.

Throughout my childhood I was inspired by pioneers in oceanography such as Sylvia Earle, Jacques Cousteau and his TV series "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau." I was also a fan of other diving-related TV shows such as Sea Hunt (Lloyd Bridges), a show long in the re-run cycle at the time.

My other passion as a teen, and now my career, is photography. When my middle brother moved out of the home, I took his bedroom over and made it into a darkroom. It was there that I learned to develop B&W and color film and make prints in trays and drums. I got the basics of it all, and frankly, when it came to color, I bit off more than I could chew, but learned a lot. But my dream was to merge my passions of diving and photography and become an underwater photographer someday.

The rest of this profile is in progress.... Will add more later. like after dinner.

I have another new diver with me. I’m in Aberdeen so it’s takes me a couple of hours to get there. We should get there about 10am. 7mm should be okay in the shallow water but it’s still going to be chilly.

Thanks for the info. I think, given the really cold weather, I’m going to pass this time. But I’d be glad to join up there in the future at some point. Do you ever do any Bay diving? Thanks.

It was too bad at Dutch Springs. Warmer in the water. I dive in the Suquhanna River by the bridges a lot when I can’t find a dive buddy. I dove German submarine U-1105 anda few 50 -60 holes in the bay but that’s about it. Let me know the next time you want to go diving.

Do you mean it wasn’t too bad at Dutch Springs? I’d be up for a dive on the Susquehanna. I imagine the viz is a lot better this time of year. However I’m not dry suit certified and only have 7mm, so I suppose the window for diving there this season with 7mm is beginning to close, right?

Sorry yea at WASN’T too bad not too cold until you got to 50’-60’. Viz is horrible in the river. When you get below 12’x15’ you can barely see you hand infront of yout face. The guy I was with at Dutch Spring had a 7mm on he said it wasn’t bad until we did our surface interval. I brought 10 gallons of hot water we dumped in his suit and he was good to go.

A couple of guys and I are going to Dutch Springs this Sunday 11/12 if you are interested.

Hi, I’m interested for sure. Can you tell me the logistics, such as when you’re headed up there? traveling as a group or individually? I only have a 7mm wetsuit, will that suffice? Thanks!
