I received my copy of “City Under the Sea” from National Geographic today. Just finished watching it. If you have not seen this video yet, you must put on your list. Especially if you love the oceans, love exploration and adventure, and love science and technology. The DVD is available through National Geographic website. P.S. Looked great Dennis… http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/naked-science/5119/Overview

Looks interesting. How do I get the DVD? Or will you share/sell yours?

You can actually order a copy from the National Geographic website. DVD play time is about 45 minutes. I believe the price they are charging is around $19 US.

Check out the top five underwater hotels. I can’t believe some of these. Amazing!

Yes, the basic technology exists and is within our reach. All of this is possible and there are organizations that have programs in motion to bring it all together. Although the program that I am affiliated with is moving ahead, things are going slower than we had hoped. Our program, like most others, is making the necessary adjustments and continuing in today’s “New Economy”.

For greater insight into the concept of living and working under the sea I recommend two books in particular:

http://www.amazon.com/Living-Working-Sea-James-Miller/dp/1886699011

and

http://www.amazon.com/Undersea-Colonies-Dennis-Chamberland/dp/1889422150/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1302752234&sr=1-1

The Miller Koblick book is rather lengthy and it covers a great deal of technical information, mostly related to living and working in an ambient pressure habitat. Most of the experience documented is from the mid 1960’s to the mid 1980’s.

The Chamberland book picks up the concept at present technological levels and projects it into the near future. This book deals more with the use of 1 ATM (surface pressure) habitats...

Both books should be considered essential for anyone who is serious about Living & Working Under the Sea....

In my living room is a poster from the cover art used on an old Oceanic catalog that depicts an underwater habitat although the 500’ viz depicted wasn’t realistic. Would be interesting to see something like that happen.
