Once the ocean warms up which won’t be this week or month there will be a group of us doing Shark River, usually the park in search of sea horses. The dives are usually posted in the forum because it is a good intro to Jersey or night diving since it seems to be easier to find sea horses with a light than daylight.

Hey, Kyle: I live in PA and go to Dutch Springs often with buddies from my local dive shop and others I met on this site. You’re welcome to join us sometime. A few of us are planning to go to Dutch Springs on opening weekend, April 7-8. I’d be willing to drive to NJ to do a shore dive. Contact me when you’re ready to go to either site.

Hi Joe/Kyle, I live in Philadelphia and am also interested in diving the Jersey Shore, (especially the wrecks), or Dutch Springs or whatever opportunities are available. Keep me posted...

Hi, Ori:
Cool, whenever you want to go to Dutch Springs, just let me know. I replied to your other post that I can go on April 8th. I’m interested in Jersey Shore diving, so we’ll have to set something up once the weather gets warmer.

In Florida but visit NJ frequently. I shudder thinking about the water temp though. What’s around NJ and PA to dive?

There are a lot of wrecks and some artificial reefs off the Jersey Shore. The water is cold and the season is short but it always could be worst.

In PA, everybody seems to go to Dutch Springs in Bethlehem. It’s not far from NJ. You’ve probably seen it talked about here a lot. As you’d expect, it’s cold. When I started diving there in August, I wore a 7mm Farmer John/jacket with hood, boots, and gloves. I don’t think the water temperature has been above the 60s when I’ve been there. However, it’s a cool place (no pun intended). Other than that, I know of Willow Springs (haven’t been there) and various lakes and rivers. The problem is that not all are suitable or available for diving.
Which dive sites do you recommend in Florida? I’m intending to go for a short visit in April and a longer one in May. I’m staying in St. Augustine. I’m willing to drive to the best places.

Eek. I might whimper at 60f... I am in the next town south of St Augustine. Most sites in central fl are 2 to 3.5hrs. There are some charters in JAX, but I prefer to go south. Better vis and closer to the blue Caribbean water.
Check out: Blue Heron Bridge in West palm Deep obsession charter west palm Pompano Dive Center Notable wrecks Ana Cecelia, Lady Luck, Danny, and a few others down there too Also spiegal grove in the Keys Shark dives too
Fresh water dives: (all 72f water temp) Paradise spring Blue Spring State Park Alexander (small sand bowl) Ginnie Springs Devils Den Blue Grotta Dive Resort (pricey but managed very well) Royal Springs Troy Springs
There are plenty more, but this should get you started. Let’s go dive. I can show ya around a bit. Let me know once you have dates in mind.

Hi, Doug:
Wow, that’s an awesome list. Thanks so much. Absolutely, let’s go dive. Thanks for the offer. I should be down in mid-May, but I’m locking in the dates now. I will definitely let you know when I’m certain, and hopefully we can set something up. Hey, if you’re ever up north and want to try some cold water diving in PA or NJ, let me know, and we’ll go to a site.
Thanks again, Joe G.
