I have been diving since 2005 and have logged over 200 dives so far. I have dove in the Bahamas / Bimini, the U.S. and Cozumel Mexico. Most of my diving is fresh water altitude due to the fact that I live in West Virginia and my home water would have to be Mt. Storm which is a "heated" lake. I am a PADI Divemaster. For the last 4 years we have gotten a group of guys together to go on a guys only dive, (fortunately our wives love us enough to let us do it, or maybe they just get tired of us and can’t wait for us to get out) either way we have made our dive trips to the Bahamas once, Cozumel twice and Key Largo. We are going Back to Key Largo this year. So far everyone that has gone on our Guys dives has been from West Virginia but we aren’t prejudice we’ll dive with anyone that can take being around a bunch of rednecks.

sorry, haven’t been on in quite a while, been really busy in places that don’t have scuba opportunities and then busy when I returned however I did get to go the weekend after Christmas to certify two students, we went to Mt. Storm here in West Virginia. I was expecting it to be cold but was pleasantly surprised. December 26 gave us a day where the air temperature was in the high fifties, the water temperature was sixty four degrees, waves were about a foot due to wind. Viz was 8 to 10 feet which is good for Storm, on Sunday, the 277th we had 64 degree air temp, water was 64, waves were lower due to shift in the wind direction, viz was still 8 to 10 feet.
Sadly, since the rednecks who used to go there and swim and block the boat ramp got a stop put to swimming from shore, the swimmers complained that the DNR allowed scuba divers and therefore the DNR stopped all water entry from the shore and you can tell that divers haven’t been going there much anymore.
We divers always spent the first hour or so acclimating to the altitude before diving. During that hour we would pick up the trash left by the locals such as beer cans and bottles, bait containers, fishing line and everything else you can imagine. We also picked up the trash from the bottom when we dove. During my most recent visit we found beer cans laying around the lot along with broken glass where ass hats had thrown bottles against the rocks. There were beer cans on the bottom and fishing line out the butt. The training platforms were broken and leaning with one end laying on the bottom and there was about a half inch of silt on them.

Finally got my instructor cert and will be teaching for our shop, Virginia Scuba. I will be teaching in West Virginia. I have attended a lot, and I mean a lot of training in my days on this Earth and none of it was more nerve wracking and rewarding as the IDC / IE

hey gang, haven’t been on for a while, been trapped far far away from water and feeling a bit like a sponge that has been set in the windowsill for a year if you know what I mean, never fear though, my dive buddies have already made arrangements for me to get rehydrated upon my return home. but now to the question, I have a friend who is looking to build a hotel with divers in mind with underwater rooms, anyone know where he can find a list of Marine Protected Areas in the Bahamas, he doesn’t want to destroy any sites but wants it close enough to good diving and snorkeling, let me know if you would

Hey my fellow wet heads, greysquirrel here. Just thought that I would take the opportunity to say hi to all those who know me on the site. I haven’t been on for a while, gotta say I like the new site. I have recently retired from many years of Law Enforcement and have recently taken another job that, although rewarding, has and will take me from the dive life for a while. I will always be dreaming of being in the water even though I will be far from it for a little while. I have plans of obtaining a dry suit though so that when I do get back I will be hitting the water no matter what the temp, and I will be planning a well deserved trip to a warm water destination to get some diving in also. I will hit the site as often as I can, but that may be far and between when I have opportunity due to the new job keeping me hopping. I will always attempt to returne e-mails though, till next time, see ya.

Check with Glock Manuel about the Excellence. They used to go to Canccun, he may at least know about it. You may also call Tracy.
