is it me or has anyone else noticed that ther seems to be more fish in the gulf of mexico,in the tampabay area we do a lot of spearfishing in the area ,at least once or twice a week, and we max out on hog fish,in no time at all.been diving this area for 15yrs, this is the most fish ,i have seen out here ,including sharks, and plenty of grouper.we are usally out about 25-30miles off of hudson. do you think the oil spill has anything to do with this. this just seems weird to me. my buudy are just happy were filling our freezers.

Your not the only area experiencing this. We are having the same situation up in the emerald coast. Rumor has it the aquatic life is fleeing the oil and therefore becoming more populated in areas nearby but not affected by the oil.

Enjoy the bountiful harvest!!

It appears that the current trend is for larger fish to come in closer to shore to feed. Some scientists say that it is because their normal food stock in the deeper waters is depleted, so they travel into shallower waters to find food.
