Last summer I was on a dive boat out of Tavernier in the Keys. When we got to the reef, a thunderstorm was bearing down on us. I looked at the captain (a former Navy SEAL) expecting him to hoist anchor and move somewhere else, and he just said go ahead and get in the water. I said, "Ok with me, but you guys are sitting on a lightning rod." He just shrugged LOL. During the dive (30 feet or so) I kept seeing flashes and thought someone was taking flash pictures with a strobe. But as it turned out, the flashes I was seeing were lightning up above the surface.
