Spammers are Idiots

If you get one of those very believable messages from someone about sending you money or wanting to find true love...make sure to report that profile immediately. You can also forward the message to me or badintexas and we’ll take care of it.

These spammers think we’re stupid or something, but they really just waste our time. The measures in place on DiveBuddy help to deter, but not prevent idiots like this. They seem to think that if they spend some time registering for a profile and sending messages to a handful of members per day...that one day they’ll get lucky and someone will give them a bank account number or credit card info. This isn’t MySpace! This is DiveBuddy and we’re a little smarter than your average social networking user.

So to all you spammers, stop wasting our time...you won’t get anything from anybody here.

Thank you,

Greg

Yep, got one this morning but I already deleted it. She sounded so nice too....I really wanted to help her out but personally I just can’t commit for anything less than 5 million.

If spammers have that much to say, let them speak up in a public forum and have their vioces heard, instead of hiding behind a key board.

Just this morning I found out my e-mail account sent out spam or someone else’s did using my e-mail address in the from line. It was a "John Doe" has declined your Paypal invoice. The e-mail had a convincing looking e-mail string showing I had sent an invoice from Paypal to someone and they refused to pay. There was a link to click on the verify my account data or re-submit the invoice.

I immediately forwarded the e-mail to the paypal fraud / spoof e-mail department and changed all my passwords.

Sorry Greg! I just joined divebuddy and the first message was from you. The second and third was the ’send-money’ spam. I thought I had made a big mistake putting out my email address to the wrong group! Hate to say it but I’m relieved to see that others were getting hit with the same spam as I was just about to pull the plug on this website!

It is a shame that there are people in the world that have decided to use their creative talent to try to cheat people out of their hard earned money. I have been with Divebuddy for almost a year. Love the site! Have been able to make some good Divebuddy connections as a result. As a matter of fact, I am submitting to become a Lifemember because the benefits far outweigh the occasional idiot that manages to sneak in. That being said, Greg - I hope your dear family member is able to get good treatment for the searoses!
