MegalodonShark tooth dive, Venice Beach, Fla. 2007. Pure muck diving, viz is about 10 feet on a good day, but, man,is it exciting to find a prehistoric carcharodon megalodon tooth. Sad thing is, this area is being bought up by private investors building on the water, and making it very difficult for the dive shops to find a public boat launch. The shop I dove with said by next year they may have to stop the shark tooth dives, because the only available public launch may be gone.

Florida west scuba is who I dive with, they are great! I actually showed up as a standby in August,(standing around and begging for a slot on the boat!)and someone no-showed, so I took their place. Capt Steve gives a great pre-dive lecture on meg teeth, plus you can find fossilized bones from manatees, etc, also. Sharks teeth also wash up on the local beaches, but diving for them is much more fun. You can dive year around, depth for teeth hunting is usually 20-30 feet.Check out their website!

I have been trying to get out that way to go looking for some teeth. I would love to know what diver operator you used.

I always go out with Florida West Scuba. They`ve always treated me well. I`ve added a photo of the shadow box I mounted on my wall to my profile.

Everything in the box is from my last 2 trips with Florida West Scuba.
