going to coasta maya mx in december any body been there? what can i expect?

I was there last march, the viz was great, lots of marine life too. The reef was pristine. Great diving and you`ll probably have the whole place to yourself, because not to many peeps dive there. As far as I know theres only one dive center and their all "dope smokin hippies"! LOL! Their all great guys (and 1 girl) and I`d dive with any of them again. The bad news is Costa Maya got ROCKED by a direct hit from one of the strongest class 5 hurricanes ever recorded. So I cant imagine that there could be much left of the place. I read a report that the cruiseship peir (you most likely used it on your previous trip) was completely washed away by the Hurricane. I`m not sure how a hurricane of that strength would effect the reef system, but I can only imagine that it was smashed as bad as the coast line. Take some pics in town etc if you get a chance, I`d like to see them and compair to what was there before.

I`ve been there but spent the day on shore looking at the Mayan ruins. It seemed like a nice place and my friends who dove there said they had a nice time.
