Key West Diving

I recently was in Key West for my wife`s birthday and had the opportunity to go diving. Went out with Southpoint Divers (whom I would recommend) to a couple of reef sites called Rock Key and eastern dryrocks. On the first dive site at Rock Key we saw some Giant Barracuda, a five foot reef shark named Rocky as well as some parrotfish, yellowfin snapper and a very big green moray eel. The second dive site was on three detached fingers of the barrier reef which did not seem to have the abundance of fish which were present at the first dive site. Saw many of the same types of fish which were present at the first dive site. This was the first time that I have ever dove on a coral reef and I thought that the beauty was absolutely incredible. It makes me want to get out to all of the other great dive sites in the carribean.

Sounds like you had a good time. If ever back in that area, you would also enjoy Looey Reef (a little north of Key West) Its even a great reef to snorkel, so if you have non-divers they will still enjoy it. I just got back from a trip to Pompano, only got in a 2-tank,but it was fun. Would like to spend more tome down in Fla. but this time leave all the non-divers at home, that way I`ll be able to get in some well earned dive time.
