I got certified and Have gear, but no dive buddy. I’m presently in northern California, and looking to dive Monterrey during the middle of the week. I’d like to also dive Lake Tahoe if circumstances are right, since I am not currently altitude qualified. I’m a veteran and currently receive VA disability compensation, which will allow me to dive during the week, but its limited so I’m always on a budget (middle of the week hotel rates are always much better).

I was certified as a kid and I think I logged 12-15 dives, all before 1992 (the last hydro date on my tank before now). I didn’t dive again until June 2018 when I got re certified with SSI. I was instantly addicted. So much so that I have started making arrangements to use my GI Bill to pay for and start the PADI Dive Instructor program sometime in September. I found a VA accepted dive school near Salt Lake City Utah and I will be able to ski Park City and become a dive instructor at the same time this winter. Before I move to Utah, I will need to log some dives and gain some experience to qualify for the program, so I am eager to dive again.

My Open Water cert Dives were done in Timber Cove at 47deg F with 5 to 10 feet of visibility on the best day. I am looking forward to seeing some sea bottom that has not been ravaged by the Strongylocentrotus purpuratus (Purple sea urchin)

March 29 Update: I found a way to dive and didn’t need to be on here for quite a while. I enrolled in an Instructor diver program, and I’ll be doing the PADI IE (instructors exam) in June. I’m not sure where that’s going to take me in the future, but I do want to dive the lakes and some of the river spots around Sonora this summer.
