Hi divers, non divers and divers to be. I`m George and i enjoy to stay on one of the most beautiful spots in south-east Asia -
Koh Tao, Thailand. Koh Tao is considered to be a scuba diving paradise and for sure is the best spot for diving in the Gulf of Thailand. What i do besides scuba diving is best described through my work. That`s right - i`m a workaholic :-). I design create and build websites and content management systems like the
Blue Marlin Divers site. 3 month ago a friend asked me if i would help him to open a new dive center on Koh Tao. Hmmm opening the 45th dive resort on a 21 square kilometer island didn`t seem the smartest thing to do and was certainly not a new idea - i love new ideas - but nevertheless, we did it. And this also gave me the chance to try out my own software, The last three years i`ve spent together with another good friend, developing a
software for dive resorts and dive centers which we have just updated with some new features. There is a free trial version ready to download for anyone who is interested. There is also an independent
article about our software on the Scuba Herald. So now since three month i`m engaged in a dive school and both, the shop and the software run fine. Recently we have found out that the sharks we have on Chumphon Pinnacle, one of the best dive sites on Koh Tao, are not as believed Grey reef sharks, but Bull Sharks. That was exciting news and i recalled many dives with those sharks "out in the blue", sometimes up to 15 sharks circling us and following us up to the surface. Together with some scientists and some enthusiastic divers we have now decided to create a
database for shark sightings on Koh Tao. It`s not finished yet but it starts looking real good. Our goal is to identify and study individual sharks and their behavior. Another thing that i`m involved in is the
Koh Tao Community, a website for the benefits of the children on Koh Tao. We organize volunteer teachers from I-to-I. collect donations for schoolbooks and offer whole page advertising for Koh Tao businesses on the site. All the funds collected are for the kids. 100% of it! At the time we have 76 school kids and more than 70 nursery kids on Koh Tao. What else? The future: comes as it comes. Tomorrow is enough time to worry about the future. And i`m single :-) The world is not equipped with many female web designers and software developers.
