New diver looking to dive! I’m in the NYC area so my training has been mostly in low visibility conditions. l like to dive Dutch Springs and other local diving. I did the Discover Scuba on Maui August ’15 then came home and got OW certified (October ’15) by Captain Mike of Captain Mike’s Diving Services on City Island in the Bronx. Finished AOW with Captain Mike’s September ’16. Hope to find local dive buddies for metro NYC and Dutch Springs diving.

How often do you try to go to dutch springs? where else have you tried diving locally?
JohnDiver123 - 5/13/2017 1:25 PM
I try to go to Dutch every other week if I can. Other than that I dive the Long Island Sound. Low visibility but good experience. How about you?

well I just moved to maryland a few months ago from Cape Cod MA, I’ve been to dutch twice before, now that i am closer i would like to try to go more often. but i don’t know many divers down here. Diving on Cape Cod was fun. I would dive for lobsters almost every weekend. When will you be heading to Dutch again?

I hope to head there on Friday May 26. We have a few of us going. I hope to get there a few times in June. Heading to Maui in July and then back at Dutch a few times in August.

John, any day but 9/28. Most likely will be there 9/25 also.

Great video! What was the temp like at the wreck? I see no one is wearing a hood!
wuzaracer - 9/06/2016 9:37 PM
The surface air temp was 92 F, I think it was about 74-76 degrees at depth. I remember feeling so comfortable after crossing the thermocline.

Wow. Good to know. Looks like a blast!

Here is a link to a 2:40 video from my dive in Oahu. You can see that the instructor was in a full 3mm suit. Most of us were in 2mm shortys. The safety diver wore a 3mm jacket and her swimsuit. Check the one tough guy in just scuba gear and boardshorts1

Hi John! Thanks - I’ll be there by 10:30 am. I got my Open Water at Dutch, but am not sure what the protocol for regular divers are there. I’ll read up on the website beforehand to see about rentals, etc. Where is the group meeting??

Hi John,
I may not be able to be at Dutch on 8/10, grand child had accident, but may be able to get away on the weekend, Friday through Sunday — 8/12,13,14. Please let me know if that works for you.

Armani,
How does that work for you for weekend of 8/12,13,14?

I normally arrive on Friday AM, when Dutch opens and camp for the weekend, on the ridge overlooking the East and West Peninsula dive entry docks. I do at least two dives on Friday, 3 on Saturday and one or two on Sunday. Friday I’m ready to dive after camp setup, by 1:00 PM. Saturday or Sunday, I like to be in the water by 8:00 to 8:30 AM

BTW, I’m new to using this. What is the simplest way to communicate between divers looking for dive buddies and confirming arrangements. There doesn’t seem to be a Reply or Reply All, function.

I can do any weekend

Let’s set something up for August...
