My first diving experience was drift diving in Cozumel, Mexico in 2007. Having always wanted to get certified I took open diver training classes with my 70 year old Dad a few years later to help him get ready to dive the Great Barrier Reef. It was somewhat bittersweet to go through the open water certification class knowing I wasn’t going to Australia with him.

I took my final certification exam at Athens Scuba Park in 2014. Visibility that day was 4’-8’ which was quite the adjustment from the crystal clear pool where I received my training. I had fun exploring the sunken bus and airplane.

I participated in the 2015 Lake Travis Cleanup. I quickly discovered that my dive skills were already getting rusty. Thankfully I was buddied up with a skilled diver/marine biologist that taught at A&M. She was very accommodating to my lack of experience.

I would need a seasoned scuba buddy willing to take a newbie under their wing. I’m level headed, even-keeled, and enjoy learning. I need more dive time to develop overall skills and muscle memory. I am available for weekend day trips to one of the local scuba parks as a tag along or even attend a refresher class.
