I just got into diving by swimming around in the lake by my mother’s house. I would guess it’s about 15ft deep and I found myself happily reaching the bottom and coming back up. I never really thought of myself as a great swimmer until I heard about how hard swimming was for most other people. I am really most interested in free diving, but I know scuba expertise is really important for most jobs in the industry and I think it offers different views and interactions that just can’t be done without assistance. I aspire to be a deep water videographer and/or marine biologist. I have plans to get my scuba certification here in MI, then spend a week in San Diego checking out the marine reserve and other natural attractions, then I am taking a free diving course at Dean’s Blue Hole in the Bahamas. I ordered a GoPro and would love to test it out. I want to learn how to spearfish, and will be able to stay with an experienced local spearfisher when I go! I also think I may be one of very few people who will be able to use a bow and arrow while suspended underwater with enough practice.
