Just want to say Happy Holidays to all scuba divers on this site. December 2017 has approached us, and it presents itself as a time to reflect all the positive experiences of scuba diving. I’m feeling grateful for having taken the path of ocean diving with scuba gear, and look forward to more adventures. Staring in 2011 as a beginner, and keeping a slow and steady pace forward, now looking forward to 2018. Thank you.

This week, I was happy with the tweaking my gear to the point of —- NICE !! So, I have attached a photo of the gear onto my page. If you have any comments, please feel free to suggest them. ( There is always room for improvement, but right now, it looks like I can practice with this gear for several more months. ) Maybe, after doing another 30 dives at DS and Atlantic with this gear, I will fine tune some more.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distance_line

I found the above link in Wiki a good first step in understanding the use of a DIVE REEL. I would like to practice more on this, and not just a few times. There are so many variety shapes and sizes for dive reel starting from the FINGER SPOOL, to the 100-200ft reel, then onto the 200-400 reel, and so on. Then, there is the JERSEY LINE, or up-reel, which is used for another reason. This article (above,) caught my eye.

This article is really good; Cavern class that I took in Ginnie Springs, FL had 2 dives fully devoted to running the line. I learned that the way I did it while diving wrecks in NJ was totally wrong...

what is the outlook for diving at North Carolina, Moreshead City ... if
Peter-EH-NJ - 10/07/2014 9:10 AM
I just came back from North Carolina, the OuterBanks, diving with Olympus Dive Center. Bobby (Captain,) and Gavin (Mate,) and Buddy (Mate.) It was nice. We got in 3 days of diving, but were blown out 2 days. That seems par for the trip. Most dives were over 110 feet. No deco allowed.

Bobby mentioned to me this —- there seems to be legislation in the NAVY that may prevent dive boats from offering ship wrecks as part of their diving experience. " Off limits" would be the German Sub, any military ships, such as coast guard wrecks and navy ships. These ships are the lifeblood of business in North Carolina, Outer banks. How bad is that!!!!

OK, I have returned from my Florida Key Largo trip, and did scuba dive the Speigel Grove, Duane, and Bibb. All these wreck dives were about 115 feet deep, and interesting. In practice into advancing my skills, Florida offered a more suitable climate than New Jersey. Yet, the true test in wreck diving is off the Atlantic Coastline. I’ve also gained some interest in advanced nitrox and decompression procedures - a course. These skills, in deeper waters, will be very useful when reaching a parallel course in deeper wreck diving.

Interesting.

No way!! I did ... Key Largo - Spiegel Grove and Duane. Nice dives. I’m grateful.

I completed my 200 dive in May 2014 at Bonaire, at Captain Don Habitat. This place allows me do practice diving off the pier and into 35-60 feet deep beautiful reefs, just a few steps from their cabins. Wow, how nice! So, I got to practice my solo diving skills, too!! Loved it.
Judynelly - 6/04/2014 8:18 AM
Wow that sounds great!
