My family and I will be in Destin, Fl. from July 12th thru the 17th. I have been talking with David (divebuddy name flaski) about diving but was wanting to know if anyone could give me ideas on what to do with the family while we are there other than diving. I will only get to go diving one day. Just a little helpful information, my oldest is 9 and my youngest is 4. Thank you all for you input.

Sit on the beach or by the pool... Also you can visit the Naval Air Museum after a few days on the beach.. Check out for the Blue Angels flight training dates that is also at the museum.... Take a charter boat out and fish or just fish with the kids in the bay shoreside..The wife will take you shopping for more clothes at the SanDestin Mall.. Eat at McGuires Pub for lunch... Try the homemade rootbeer and of course bean soup is still what 10 cents.. Also ask Dave S. he lives there full time... I only live there 4 weeks a year... Mostly my scheduale is Wake up, Donut Hole for donuts only take out, Go shopping, Eat at McGuires for lunch, Go to the beach and pool, Cook a steak on the grill and watch the sunset.. Of course dive every second that I can... Mike B.

Actually for you is to get a beachside resort.. My recommendation is the Holiday Beach Resort.. Keep trying to get in.. Start now... Its hard to get into.. But its the best beach in the area.. I should know...
The kids are young and full of life... Spend time with them as much as possible all day on the beach and in the pool.. Ya won’t need to go anywhere else.. Let the wife go out by herself whenever she wants to get away to go shopping.. And then catch that one or two days of diving threw ScubaTech

July will be hot and humid. Your family should try and find a water activity. If your on a budget like I am Destin commons (a shopping center) has a play ground with a water area. There is always the beach but if the waves are too big for the little one. OkaloosaIsland has 2 beach access points on the bay side. One you can’t miss it’s on the north side of 98. the other one is tucked away behind the convention center.

West of Okaloosa Island over Brooks brige there is a park south of 98 no water area but it has some big trees that keep it cool

Further west in Navarre there is a water park just west of the bridge.

I also agree with the naval air museum “Great place” but it is 1 ½ hour drive from Destin there is an air force armament museum it’s a lot smaller and most of the aircraft are out side but it is only 30 min drive.

There is great shopping for your wife. and there is also a water park; Big Kahunas, a race trac for kids and i believe that place has a game room too. Destin is pretty family oriented so you’ll find lots to do. but highly recommend a beach front room so you can just "chill" too.
