Saturday, December 2, 2017, 10a - 2p: BIOBLITZ IN DANIA BEACH (Dr. Von Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park - 6503 N Ocean Dr, Dania Beach, FL 33004)

With the holiday season approaching, are you looking for a way to give back and help with our Florida reefs’ protection, while enjoying a day in the sun? Volunteer with SEAFAN for a one day BioBliz event! A Bioblitz is an event which brings together experts and volunteer members of the public to inventory either biodiversity and ecosystem health indicators in a specific area. This technique harnesses the power of citizen science to capture a “snapshot” of conditions on a specific date. Bioblitzes offer those who wish to act as citizen scientists and stakeholders who want to make a difference a quest to discover and document marine incidents and species diversity, while volunteering their time and expertise to provide important information that can advise coral reef management and protection. Anyone who’s interested in a volunteer opportunity in one of our beautiful Oceanside state parks. Volunteers will get free entry into the park. Students welcome! All volunteers will be required to complete a DEP volunteer form, and those under 18 will need guardian release, as well. Light Refreshments will be provided by FOFR and FOFR reps will be on hand to provide more info about the citizen support org.

Hi Tom,

I am heading down next week and would like to volunteer if the water is not too cold. I can send you a message.

Thanks, Pam
