I am sure we have some shark experts in here. What say you on the veracity of the most recent shark week?

I posted this because my father sat me down to explain to me about this Discovery Channel "documentary" about a 40 foot shark named "Submarine." He was very worried that this shark exists and that I was going scuba diving.

It turns out it was a 2 hour show on Shark Week that had a 4 second disclaimer that was very unclear that the entire thing was made up.

At least they don’t spend to much time on trying to make that stuff look real. All the dramatized footage reminds me of the show Power Rangers. I laughed at the disclaimer. If you have to have a disclaimer about the authenticity of a show then you have just undermined everything in your shows as people will be questioning things that might actually be real. I do have to admit that I haven’t laughed that much in a while.

I watched a few of this year’s programs. However, the ones about "Submarine" and the Megalodon "mockumentaries" I don’t waste my time watching. It’s gotten pretty easy to tell which ones offer actual shark information and which ones are sensationalized. I thought "Zombie Sharks" was going to be stupid, but it was decent program about how the sharks go into a trance when flipped over. The one about Colossus was very good. But, over all, Discovery Channel is making a mockery of Shark Week. I think the "Science Channel" needs to take it over and just do shows that are factual and get away from the BS programs. The Science Channel is owned by Discovery Communications, but you would think if it was on that channel, each show would have to have some validity to them.

I used to love Discovery Channel 10 years ago, now, I find it has become a bunch of dumb reality shows, fake documentaries and a way too many Pawn Shop and Locker autions.

It’s a shame that even a channel geared towards education has become a farce.
