Looking for Dive Buddies world wide.

I’m fortunate enough to fly standby world-wide and am looking for dive buddies in all kinds of locations.

I’ve snorkeled in many locations and have always wanted to go deeper and now I can. Would love to revisit some places including:

  • Guam
  • Palau
  • Great Barrier Reef
  • Costa Rica
  • Honduras
  • Hawaii - Big Island and Maui. Maybe Hanauma Bay
  • Philippines
  • Or just about anywhere United Airlines fly.

Would love to hook up with people in these areas. If you don’t mind a novice dive buddy.

Hey Andrew. You are a lucky man to be able to fly standby world-wide. My travels are basically family vacations with my wife and 7 year old child and "maybe" we go diving one or two times in a week. I can hardly call them dive trips. But you will find a ton of people on this site looking for buddies for dive-specific trips to many of the locations you mentioned. During the mean time I highly suggest you take advantage of our wonderful local waters. If fact, if you have your own equipment already I know of a big group heading out tomorrow to Palos Verdes. And next Sunday we have a group of 30+ members from this site heading to Catalina.

Hey Rich... I got your message on here but I’m yet to be approved so I couldn’t reply to it. Planning on going to do some warm water diving in Hawaii on the 10th but I may skip it to join your group. As soon as I can reply to your message, I’ll send you my email to put on your list.

Heading out to Anacapa tomorrow for my final certification dives (Did I mention I was a novice? I really meant it!).

As for equipment... I’ll post a couple of questions on the equipment page. Kinda off topic on here, I think, since I have a couple specific question as to where to rent.

I am afraid Hawaii will be a more sure bet. I’m actually full for the 10th right now. I thought I was going to have a cancellation this weekend, but she is feeling better and will now go. Sorry. Keep in mind I have the Spectre booked for our group on June 30, possibly for Santa Cruz & Gull Island. You will get the e-mail invite in April.

Andrew,

If you ever feel like diving around NY/NJ/CT let me know. You’ll need full gear though (hood, gloves, boots, and a thick wetsuit) as the water is on the cooler side around here!

Corey! I’m up for that! I can easily bring my personal stuff on the flight with me... but the other stuff I’d rent.

I’m guessing there’s plenty of wrecks off the coast? How does May look?

There’s a ton of stuff around here and I am dying to start diving this season, hopefully the temps will be warm enough soon. This weekend I asked my former dive instructor and he told me he did a beach dive locally and the temp was 52 degrees. I did my certifications in 50-53 degree water and I seriously felt like I was going to die of exposure so I’d say we want the temps to hit at least 60. I’ll keep you posted
