I wanted to hear from anyone about their experiences with three islands that I’m considering traveling to for vacation with diving as part of the itinerary. We are looking at the "Saints" for this upcoming trip. St. Thomas, St. Kitts or St. Maarten...we would be interested in how you, who have experienced any of these locales rate the diving, as well as the topside activities, restaurants, bars, shopping, and other tourists things for theses locales. Thanks to any and all who may contribute.

St Thomas is way to crowded for us; however if your looking to shop and have good nightlife it is the place to go. There is good diving in the area but I prefere to be based out of the BVI’s for peace and quite and the diving.

If your looking at the STs I actually prefer St Croix for both crowds and diving and would recomend either Cane Bay dive Shop or SCUBA. Unlike St Thomas there are fewer crowds and you usually have very few competitors for space on the boats. Cane Bay also uses Patten inflatables as some of their boats great little 6 pack boats for ease of access.

I have been to St. Thomas and St. Kitts from a cruise ship. The diving in St. Kitts was very nice. We dove with Pro Divers and they were great! We dove in St. Thomas on 2 different trips. The diving was ok. The first trip was in Nov 2010 and the vis wasn’t very good. The second trip was in October 2011 and it was a better experience. I definitely preferred the diving in St. Kitts over St. Thomas but I can’t speak to the land based activities. I’ll try to post some pics of both places later today.
