After our dive we can do to D2—Divers Two for a presentation of NJ Shore diving.

I like it, in planning on doing the dive with you at Shark River. I’d love to do the presentation too, my wife is helping out a friend and watching twin boys that evening though...I’m on the fence with the presentation.

I never dove that inlet, High at 2:47. Can we go in before High? I get away with going in before High at Manasquan Inlet. I might get there up early and do some fishing and scout out the vis.
I would imagine we could cheat it a little bit, as long as we swim against the incoming tide (toward the bridge) then we dive a bit during slack...and head back before the tide starts to change.
And I have never dove the Avon side (by divers 2)...I’ve only dove A street and First ave (behind the apartments). Just plug that into your GPS and you’ll be fine.
Count me in - I have dove both sides - the North side is an easier dive - the trick is trying to avoid the fishermen... Yes - you can cheat by about 20 mins or when the flow of water starts to show it is easing up... It is not the entry but the exit that you want to mind - it can be tough fighting the current, getting your fins off and climbing the rocks in the current...
Agreed, Carl. Thankfully there are some nooks in the rocks that you can avoid the current a bit, just need to keep the rocks close by so you don’t get in a jam. Not speaking from experience, but from what I was told, if really really got stuck in the current, you can just ride it out to the beach, then take the walk back up to a street, first ave. But that’s a worse case scenario.

I’ll get there around 2 pm so we can assess the dive, should be a good one...maybe we could find some lobsters.

Marine Forecast changed for Sat. 10-15 g20 from of the E. Inlet vis is dropping today. Not looking good—any alternative ideas?
Close your eyes and dive? :-)
I really don’t want to drive to RI to dive...
Have either of you dove the Train Wreck - Delaware Water Gap... Not a great alternative but an option none the less and we can go earlier - not tide dependent... and you can bring home a goodie or two...
Looking at the Web cams for Belmar - the waves are not that bad right now - I can not speak for the viz though...
There is also Randolph, the left side I dove last time the visibility was great (probably 15-20 feet) but the deep water the visibility was aweful. We could hang in the 15-30 ft range and dive the whole left side of the lake. I’m open for the train too, just need GPS for it.
I’ll call divers 2 right now to check vis conditions.
Verdict is visibility is poor at best. Said the water is green and foamy...wind going to continue to blow through tomorrow. So no go on Shark River. I’m open to beer train or Randolph quarry.
The left side of Randolph had some sunken trees that had some nice gatherings of fish. Curious what the water temp is I’m guessing low 50s, upper 40s...we’re going to freeze...better dive at the warmest part of the day since we don’t have to worry about the tides anymore.

I logged a 43 min dive - avg depth was 24 feet 51 degrees minimum - I would say 10 foot viz - some really cool spots that I have not seen before... Found a really old lantern that I was very excited for - got it back to the truck and on the bottom of the lantern opened up a little door and proceeded to pull out 2 D size batteries... Lol - oh well so much for antiquities...

Still trying to id the bottle I brought up.

Where did you dive? Train wreck? Any dives scheduled for this coming week? Weather is really a big factor now.

We ended up diving in Randolph. Thinking Weds or Friday or both... :-)

Just started a new thread for Black Friday dive...let’s make it happen.
