Lionfish have reached what Biologists refer to as a threshold population. They can no more be eradicated as the Iguanas can be from Gasparilla or the Pythons from the Everglades. It’s evolution and, in time, nature will control them. Rather then waste our time trying to eliminate them I suggest we educate people on how to cook, eat, and enjoy them and how to safely remove the barbs. And perhaps devote some time to researching how we can get larger fish like grouper to eat them.
