In the summer you’ll have to carry your gear eight blocks or more. Especially in the summer when the legal parking will be far from the river. You can’t plan it by reading about it on the Internet. There are maps but they won’t answer all your questions. Plan to spend at least two hours driving around New Braunfels, looking for place to park, hiking to a possible entrance/exit. Rinse and repeat until you have decided where to get in and out. The first time there bring comfy shoes and plenty of drinking water and be prepared to do some serious hiking before you dive. The vis is awful there in the summer because of all the swimmers/tubers messing it all up.
