They do have some small differnces but entry level are pretty much the same. It seems that your instructors make a bigger differnce then anything else. As NAUI open water you have to do snorkeling, water rescue and nav skills that are not done in PADI without a specialty or advanced. At least thats what I`ve been hearing from the local PADI Open Water divers. The shop I go to supports both PADI and NAUI classes. The NAUI/PADI instructors seem to make you do more skills with PADI testing, then the PADI only instructors do. I think in the last Dive Training or DAN magazine they had a small write up on the NAUI organization getting full compliance/recognition with SSI or something? Not sure what good that is but I guess its good if they all agree that each other has a clue right?
