My wife and I just bought the DC1000. She loves it, I haven’t seen it because I’m still in Afghanistan...we have some friends who have the DC 800 and they love it and their pictures are amazing. Lighting makes all the difference in the world either the digital strobe or a continous light source will improve your pictures regardless of the camera.
I know most people will say the extra mega-pixels matter, but if they don’t matter to you the camera is still high quality and will provide you some great pictures. I used a Reefmaster Mini for most of my pictures and once I added a strobe I increased the quality tremendously. I hope this helped.
