My first major wreck dive was on the Indra in North Carolina. Big ship, lots of easy openings, lots of fish, lots of color and light. Great for beginning wreck divers. Schools of barracuda. Some sharks.

The Indra was cool. It had the biggest ’Cuda I’ve ever seen in it’s hull this past summer. I have to rank the U-352 as my top wreck.. The Mighty O runs a close second.. Fortunately, I got to dive it before the flight deck went to 145. Dale

The Speigel Grove is a good dive. Not to deep. When I dove it the current was mild and vis was great. Dale, what’s the depth on U352?

Dale,
I have been on both the Indra and the 352 a few times, they are fantastic dives. I love the 352 because it is only 117 to the sand, what a piece of history.

Yeah, they are great dives.. During the same weekend, we did the Cassimir and the Spar. IMHO, the Cassimir isn’t worth the 3 hour ride out there, but the Spar was awesome for the Sand Tigers. Anthony, the 352 is between 112 and 120.. Like they said above, around 117 in most places. EAN30 and you’re down long enough for a good dive.. Current was ripping pretty good the day we dove it.. But, once we got to the sand on the Starboard side, you were good.. Dale

I enjoy diving Wreck Alley off Mission Beach in San Diego, CA. The HMCS Yukon is a 366ft Canadian Destroyer sitting in 105ft of water. The ship sank during the tow out to the proposed site. Because of this, it rests at a 70 degree angle on the port side. There are many access holes cut into the sides and the bridge is easily accessible. Also, the wreck site is only about 1.5 miles from the shore. Charter boats run less than $100/person since travel time to the wreck is about 10 minutes and fuel consumption is minimal. There is also the Ruby E. wreck and a sunken NOAA tower within a mile of the Yukon. Many of the charters schedule trips to both wrecks on the same trip. The experience is very rewarding.

I live and dive the coast of NC. We have many great wrecks here. That is why they call this piece of coast the grave yard of the Atlantic. We have great wreck diveing. It is worth taking a trip if you like diving wrecks. Most of the wrecks are in the 60- 130ft range so be ready for that if you come to dive.
