Plan using atleast a 7mm suit. The water here has been 55 to 58 at 55fsw.
If you dive La Joylla you will most def hit a thermocline [ at ] about 45fsw and you will feel it even in a 7mm, the last tiem i dove there, last May [ at ] 85fsw and it was 60.
I usually dive up in Laguna more stuff to see. Most times we dive on sundays meet up at the dive shop, Laguna Sea Sports on Pacific Coast Highway around 08 to 09 AM, take the 5 to Danna Point and stay on PCH when you get to Laguna in town main beach its 3 traffic lights up.
If your gonna shore dive check out MAGICSEAWEED.COM for the surf report anthing over 3ft swell hang on you will get tossed, espically down in La Joylla. the surf zone is a bit wide 25 to 50 yards pending surf.
If your gonna stay down in Sandiego and want a boat , check out the Double D. nice crew go out to the HMS Yukon 110fsw to the bottom, it is a must dive, but you want the first boat out. lots of classes for AOW and they stir up the silt.
hope this helps.
