[Choose #1] I beliieve it is the Federal waters Act of 1980 requires any body of water that pertains to international shipping must fly code alpha flag it is to be 1 meter by 1 meter and must be ridgit Most of us fly both flags

[Choose #1] CA requires a dive flag when diving from a boat, and certain beaches require a float with a flag when diving from the beach. All boats are required to fly an Alpha flag (blue & white) when they have divers in the water. This is a USCG requirement.

[Choose #1] If you are diving in an area that isn’t specifically designated for divers. But boaters usually don’t care about the dive flag and it usually attracts them to it because they think it’s a crab/fish trap or something.

[Choose #1] Mass is required to have a dive flag unless a boat has a dive flag. Since I dive in Maine alot a dive flag is not required but there are some coastal state parks that you must obtain a permit, have a dive flag and some require a dive buddy
