Has anyone ever sighted a Dugong while diving? I had opportunity to see one yesterday in the Philippines.

Well my son lives in Homosassa Florida where many Manatees winter. Before he moved there my daughter and I made a trip there to see them but since then I’ve seen them in the Key’s, Key Biscayne National parks marina drinking AC discharge water from the boats, under Blue Heron Bridge and in Belize.

This picture was taken when my wife and I were visiting my son and grandkids about two years ago.

A manatee is pretty much the same thing as a Dugong. I have never ran into a manatee (or Dugong) while scuba diving, but my family and I did snorkel with them in Crystal River, FL. It was the greatest thing we’ve ever done together! Such an awesome trip. I wrote the following article about it:
