Location: Pompano Beach (outer reef)

Description: Grouper Bend offers excellent habitat. The top of the 3rd reef here is 45’-50’. The western facing ledge drops off to 65’-72’ to the sand. There is a false ledge to the west of the main ledge. If you venture eastward, form the main ledge, you will eventually reach the edge of the reef at 80’-90’. Grouper are occasionally seen here. One theory is they move back and forth to the wrecks east of the ledge.

Navigation: Start out in either the north or south hook (depending on the current) and drift along the main ledge. This is the best scenic route. If you are lobstering sometimes it pays to venture to the deep side of the reef (east) to the Spur & Groove or to the false ledge to the west
