Cedar Creek Reservoir - Gillsville GA

Loading...
Cedar Creek Reservoir is a 520 acre park with a 143 acre lake and 377 wooded acres of beautiful countryside. Open year round. Park closes at sunset. Leashed Pets Allowed, No cost, Boat Ramp Only

Boating-Non motorized boats with electric trolling motors only. No outboard motors permitted.

This is a no swimming area, by pure luck me and members of Hall County Dive Team are allowed to train here.

Water is 59 degrees below 20’, with visable thermocline, anything above 20’ is like taking a hot bath.

I went scuba diving here on 8/28/2014. Average viz: 11-15ft/3-5m. Water temp: 56-60°F/13-16°C.
This was an interesting dive, went out to train on the area learning any high hazard areas and familiarization with the reservoir itself. Water was clear very warm with large fish from surface to 18 feet. at 18 feet a visible thermocline was noted and a mass reduction of aquatic life was seen. Below 18 feet water temp dropped to 59 degrees with standing saplings. Sandy bottom with small layer of silt. There is no swimming at this reservoir, however the fishing should be great.
