Lake George is a boat accessible fresh water dive site, located in NY. This dive site has an average rating of 3.50 out of 5 from 8 scuba divers. The maximum depth is 91-100ft/28-30m. The average visibility is 31-35ft/9-11m. This dive site provides bathrooms and airfills.

We were told by the dive shop we got fills from there was a wreck next to a small island in the lake, we never found it. The surface was warm so we jumped in without hoods or gloves and then we came to the thermocline........... This is the first thermocline I ever saw that looked solid, I thought it was the bottom! Warm above, freezing below, we returned to the boat for gloves and hood! Found a lot of freshwater clams but no wreck :(

There are several wrecks in Lake George, including the oldest intact warship in North America, the Land Tortoise radeau floating gun battery from the French and Indian War. There are also a cluster of bateaux from the same era and a turn-of-the-century launch.

I grew up in lake george all but one dive spot needs a boat to get there. Heartstone is awesome. It is a training ground with ropes and buoyancy diamonds for training. There is also a boat, car and plane yes a plane all under water. Pas the plane is a underwater memorial for a lost diver that has done a ton for the diving community.

If your in the lake george area hit me up I am always down for diving. I am a rescue diver and medic,

Hey all,

I’m heading up to Lake George week of Aug 1st through 8th and looking for a dive buddy. I’m bringing a small 19’ Tracker bass boat which isn’t good for diving off of but will get us to anywhere on the shore of the lake/islands where we can shore dive. Let me know who’s available. Thanks!

Careful out there, my fathers 17’ almost got swamped by a passing tour boat while we were looking for a wreck, hate for yours to become one!
