Suunto Cobra 3 - They Listened to us... Suunto Cobra 3 - They Listened to us...
AirOn - 1/27/2009 3:13 PM
I just saw the new Suunto Cobra 3 on thier web site. They made the one feature change many of us Cobra 2 owners seemed to agree on. The user can now change the default "stay on" time for the digital compass. The Cobra 2 had the a 3 second button hold for a 3 second on time. Compounding the issue was the same 3 second button hold for the 3 second on backlight feature. You pretty much would get one to turn on just as the other turned off. Anything less (2 second hold) and the computer would place ...
Visual safety marker location
AirOn - 7/15/2008 1:10 PM
Quick post, I’ll fill more text in still... This is how I’ve installed my Visual Marker, its easy to get but out of the way. I didn’t like it on my D rings hanging and flopping around. Seaquest Balance BC, has a nice strap like connection at the back end of weight pocket. ALICE Clip on Safety sausage velcro. This ALICE clip is from an old camping shovel. Its also been on dives with me over the last year with only the same rinse and soaks that the BC has been getting. ALICE Clip & Safety sausage ...
San Carlos - 05/15/07 to 05/18/07
AirOn - 5/19/2008 6:35 PM
Trip started out well, no stops at any of the check points. Check-In at the hotel was a breeze (I’ll blog the Hotel separate). The water was a bit cooler then last years trip. I was comfortable in just my 3mm Pinnacle wet suit. The clarity was down to 10-30 on this trip but the trade off was being closer to more fish. The cool water fish were out still as well as the warm water ones already. The schools of minnows were a really amazing sight to just hover and watch. Even when sitting out your su...
Suunto Cobra II Dive computer
AirOn - 8/08/2007 2:29 PM
I purchased a Cobra II dive computer with my Package deal from my LDS. Its a nice unit, complete with the quick disconnect and padded cover. The unit works very well for air, temp, time, depth... etc. The downloads and related software/database are really cool. The problem I discovered is the digital compass. It works great nice on land. It even has handy markers that help you dive patters like Box, trianges, etc. The problem is the 30 or 60 second intervals before it kicks back to gauge mode to...
New equipment and dive buddies...
AirOn - 8/02/2007 4:51 PM
Doing NAUI open water, we do rescues from above and below water. I did my checkout dives solo so I was issued a dive buddy upon arrival. I`m diving a Seaquest Balance BC with the Air 2 on it. (Aqualung not Scuba pro?) Make sure your dive buddy knows your equipment and you know theirs! When we were first setting up our gear I did what my class instructor said, I went over and checked my dive buddies gear before helping put it on him. I even confirmed his rental OCTO was working. Why... because as...
San Carlos San Carlos
AirOn - 7/18/2007 12:00 AM
Took the July 2007 San Carlos trip with Oasis, for my open water checkout dives. Completed my dives. Shore Dives off the Hotel and Boat dives at Martini Cove. Still had time for 2 (Boat) sport dives off Little Waterfall and 1 (Boat) night dive off Deer Island. I can confirm the disposable Fuji water cameras (rated for 35 feet) are good down to 50 feet. Another guy on the trip can confirm... They do not howeverwork to 100 feet. There are a number of other sites and attractions around the little a...
