Finally dived locally
geobrad7 - 8/16/2009 9:10 PM
I had been diving several places (mostly warm and scenic): Hawaii, Mexico, Florida, the Bahamas; as well as a very interesting inland spot in New Mexico, but never anywhere like Rhode Island. Well today I finally did it, after living here almost a year. It was quite different than what I expected in several ways. 1) Even though now the water is the warmest of the year, I still had it in my head that it was ice cold here, all the time. So staying deep for a long time makes it likely that you’ll push your nitrogen limits, but going to a certain dept...
Trying to plan diving at home
geobrad7 - 8/12/2009 6:33 PM
I have been thinking about diving here in Rhode Island since I moved here in January. Hell, I remember calling one dive shop in February or March to ask when they start advanced classes. I didn’t follow up though. I was somewhat intimidated. I don’t really know how to explain it. "Vacation diving" is so much easier because you just make a reservation before you get there and everything is ready, planned, and simple. But diving here in Rhode Island, things just aren’t like that. You go rent your ...
