Greg - 1/10/2012 1:41 PM
Written by Becky, Greg’s wife We just got back from a week vacation to Crystal River, Florida. Gregs parents, Greg and Eve and brother Chuck and sister in law Christal came from NC to meet our family from Texas there as we rented a house on a man made finger of the river. We all had things that we wanted to do while there. Conner wanted to go to the nearby mall and try samples from their food court. Chris wanted to build a sandcastles on the beach and see whose got knocked over first from the ti...
Scuba Trip to Cozumel, Mexico (includes travel advice) Scuba Trip to Cozumel, Mexico (includes travel advice)
Greg - 7/03/2009 7:19 PM
Becky and I recently visited Cozumel, Mexico. We stayed for 5 days/4 nights at the Wyndham Resort (all-inclusive, air fare through Continental, round-trip airport transfers, all for $1350 for the two of us). Here’s our first travel tip...don’t stay at the Wyndham (stunk like sewer and ocean views weren’t really ocean views). Second travel tip...when you arrive at the airport in Cozumel, go through customs, get your checked bags and walk straight out of the building to the people holding signs up...
Greg and Becky’s Trip to Cozumel Greg and Becky’s Trip to Cozumel
Greg - 6/21/2009 10:36 AM
Becky and I are headed to Cozumel tomorrow morning. We are going with 3 other couples (one of the other guys is also on DiveBuddy.com, screen name is: H20. We are staying at the all-inclusive Wyndam resort. We have been advised (by other DiveBuddy members) not to pay the extra fee to stay on the "adults only" Sabor side of the resort (due to lack of bar service and people use the pool on other side of the hotel more often anyway). We are also bringing mostly U.S. dollars (since most places accep...
Trip to California (Scuba Show, Diving) Trip to California (Scuba Show, Diving)
Greg - 7/14/2008 12:12 PM
On June 25th, the DiveBuddy family (Greg, Bec, Chris, Conner and Macy) packed up and head to California from Texas. We were on our way to the Scuba Show in Long Beach and lots of other stops for vacation and diving. Here’s a recap of our journey: In Toyahvale, TX we stopped at Balmorhea State Park for some snorkeling and diving (off a diving board). The water was cold. The fish were everywhere. The catfish were black. The entrance fee was free since we had a Texas State Parks pass. Very out of t...

Our Trip to Devil`s Den in Florida Our Trip to Devil`s Den in Florida
Greg - 7/27/2007 12:00 AM
The DiveBuddy get together at the Devil`s Den in July, 2007 was awesome! Tami, Paul and Rowena were great hosts. The trip was very relaxing for Becky and I. We didn`t have the kids with us so we got to spend some good quality time together. The underground den was so beautiful. The water was clear and cool. Large catfish swam around in the den. The den is basically an old sink hole that is shaped like a donut with plenty of caverns to dive around in. They have the dangerous areas closed off with...
Blue Lagoon, Huntsville, TX Blue Lagoon, Huntsville, TX
Greg - 3/04/2007 12:00 AM
Blue Lagoon opened in September, 1986, as many improvements have been made since then. Lagoon II opened in March, effectively doubling the size of the facility. The operation is designed specifically for divers and especially for dive classes. Non-divers are permitted to come in with divers, but the lagoons are not open to swimmers. Pets are not permitted, both for safety reasons, and as a courtesy to other divers. There are three large dive platforms in Lagoon I and a second one has recently be...
Wreck diving in North Carolina Wreck diving in North Carolina
Greg - 5/23/2006 12:00 AM
This month I flew to NC to do some wreck diving with my dad and uncle Gene. We got some great tips from Divin` Dawgs in New Bern about where, how and when to dive. On our first day, the water was pretty bad (over 6` waves, very choopy and windy)...but that wasn`t going to stop us. My dad, uncle and brother Chuck (co-captain of the boat) and his girlfriend, headed out of Beaufort Inlet towards the Indra, a 400` cargo ship about 10 miles off shore in 60` of water. We quickly got soaked from all th...
Shore diving in La Jolla Village Cove, CA Shore diving in La Jolla Village Cove, CA
Greg - 3/29/2006 12:00 AM
During a business trip to La Jolla Village, CA a year ago, I decided to take a client diving. A local dive shop organized everything for us...but I won`t mention the name because the gear was in bad shape. I met my client at the beach along with the dive master from the shop. Even though this beach was a popular dive area, we were the only divers there. The weather was nice and warm, but here we are putting on 5 mil wetsuits among everyone else wearing bathing suits and laying out in the sun. I`...
