Went to Cuba this past xmas and stayed at the Blau Coasta Verde on the east coast. This is just up the road from Guardalavaca and about an hour bus ride from the airport in Holguin. There happened to be a dive shop right on the resort with very competant people in charge. Special thanks to Jorge for his patience. Although the dive shop and people were great, we found the diving to be somewhat unanimated (no fish?????!?!?). The reef structures were evry interesting, but lacked in the colors we had expected to find. The reef wasn`t dead (or at least didn`t appear to be) it just seemed less than vibrant. This may have been due to the river that flowed right into the area we were diving?? All in all it was a very relaxing trip and we would go back there for the small sized resort. We would however not go back there for the diving.

The wrecks off the Northeastern coast and GTMO have the best diving around the island. GTMO primarily because they have 2 coves that are protected from the weather. Wrecks because they`re wrecks.
