In Feb 2003 I went to North Western Coast of Saudi Arabia with 8 men and me. We camped on the beach, took our own tanks and generators and went surf diving every day for a week. The diving there is virgin, pristine. One beach called Shaban we had to walk out about 300 meters in full gear to the reef. We walked through reef which had holes in it to the sand. Once at the reef wall we had to swim through an opening in the reef while the waves were high and then make a quick descent to about 25 meters. There was every colour of soft coral imanginable. The wall of coral was about 50-80 meters high. The first dive we went to about 30 meters ( 100 feet) . The Red Sea is know for its 100s of different species of fish. It was the most amazing week of diving. As we left for the day 3 mantas swam into the shallow reef.. what a day! Desert diver
