Grand Cayman: Memory NotesWe left for our first dive trip to the Caymans...scheduled to coincide with Pirates Week celebration in Grand Cayman...weather was warm...rained almost everyday of the trip...sometimes heavy tropical rains lasting all day...nonetheless, diving was great. Most Pirates Week activiities postponed so we missed the pirates landing in Georgetown, the parade, fireworks, and town street dance, so much for Pirates Week fun... Besides the seven recorded dives...we snorkled five times: twice at Coral Sands in Georgetown and once each at Cemetary Reef Beach in West Bay, Smith`s Cove in South Sound and once aboard the Cayman Diver on a trip to Stingray City in North Sound. Had some real nice meals with a couple of sushi appetizers for me...look forward to a return trip, hopefully with sunny weather next time and a dive buddy for me and a snorkle buddy for Barb. Rented auto from Budget, purchased groceries at Foster Food Fair IGA market, flew Cayman Air out of Miami (to Cayman Brac, then on to Grand Cayman) stayed at Marriott Airport Hotel night before departure, parked auto for the week at Continental Airport Parking (NW 26th Street off of N. LeJeune Blvd, across from airport...w/shuttle service.), both good moves and positive traveling experiences for us. We stayed at the Grand Caymanian a time Share Exchange for a 1 BR villa, very nice accomodations, full kitchen ,dining, living, and an outdoor deck overlooking North Sound. We did a charter boat trip aboard the Cayman Diver to Stingray City to swim and feed the southern stingrays, then snorkle the north sound barrier reef.
