Great diving for the middle of nowhere. 60 Viz and it feels like warm bath water. Now the only down side to it is there in only one restraint in the town and it is about the size of a really big swimming pool. I think my computer read 22 feet when I stuck it in the sand at the spring so it is not that deep but it would be a great place to go diving for open water check outs. The other great thing about it is the fish there are totally crazy. They have Channel Cat, and Soft shield turtles. And some small endangered fish that I don’t remember the name of but it is a blast if you are looking to blow bubbles in the desert in the middle of the winter.

You are right diving the desert is a great place for first time divers and for those just coming back to the game. I plan on taking my soon to be wife to this same place for her cert dives it is a bit of a drive but I think it will help her start to enjoy and understand my growing love for this underwater world. We are getting married Feb. 16th so I plan on having her splash in early march as the weather warms up a bit. It should be a blast and I will post back about our new trip to the desert.

OMG! This is where I first got my O/W cert. It was the weekend of Feb. 19, `97. The air Temp. was about 62°F and the water Temp stays between 72°-78°F year round. Great Viz. Natural Habits and Marine Life. Chock Full of Mexican Tetras, Texas Pup Fish (or Vis-Versa) and yes even the Soft Shelled Turtles, Channel Cat Fish (Don`t forget the Franks when you visit this Awesome site). God I can not beleive it`s been almost 10 yrs. since I recieved my c-card... WOW! Thank you for posting this and the Trip down memory lane. :o)
