This was great viz 80’ and water temp in the 80’s. There were tons of ledges and huge lobster to see and several swim throughs.

French Reef, when the water is blue and clear, is one of the better reefs in the Florida Keys. It has swim-throughs, but these days many of them are somewhat tight, so there are really only 3-4 that you might want to actually dive through now. But it is probably the reef in the Keys with the biggest coral relief, and much marine life of course, what the Keys are known for. My shop, as well as many in Key Largo, offer trips there frequently.

The French has been a big part of my experience gain, and is a wonderful site for all kinds of divers.

Pass throughs were pretty cool. Lots of broken coral from divers with little buoyancy control. Sorry to see this. If you insist on diving coral reefs learn control and surge diving BEFORE you go. Talk to your instructor or the divemasters on the boat get some help.

This was one of the sites we dove during training and my very first dive spot. Nerves probably didn’t allow me to enjoy it to its fullest but great spot with plenty of colorful marine life.

06.16.2015 - Awesome swim-throughs!! Lots to explore at this site. Be careful with navigation, as there are SO MANY reefs. Absolutely beautiful, though. I saw a large turtle swimming.

Wasn’t my most favorite dive. there was a lot to see, but it all started to look the same...making underwater navigation challenging, and with the current that day, it was quite easy to get WAY off course. Had a pretty sizable swim back to the boat.
