Very cool video Carl, BHB is on my to do list for sure. My favorite critters are octopi, I love how they glow blue in the night time. I’d love to hit them with my uv light and see how their chromatophores look with that. We’re looking at doing a 5:15 pm dive this Sunday if you’re interested.

Keep me posted - would be interested - can only tell you last Saturday the back bay looked like Chocolate Milk and out in the ocean below 20 feet it was 1 to 3 foot visibility... Now looking at the forcast Friday looks like the wind will start blowing again... Right now I am on the fence... :-)

Would this Friday night 10/30 work? High tide is 10:53 PM - Saturday is Halloween would be too crazy I think... Shark River Inlet?

I am playing ice hockey tonight, I can’t make it. What time is the tide Sunday?
DiverfromBaskingRidge - 10/30/2015 3:08 PM

Carl, thanks also for the dives that we have done. I look forward to many more - hopefully a few more this year before the gear gets packed away for warm water destinations till next spring - if it gets packed away at all. I can spare some weekday times if anyone is interested.

Definitely not done yet - down in Miami this week - Dove the Blue Heron Bridge and ran into a sea turtle, octopus that grabbed on to my fingers, lots of tropicals, all kinds of cool critters - dove in my bathing suit... So we will definitely get a dive in I hope...

I just dover Shark River Inlet by the bridge this Sunday... if the weather stays warm I’d do one more dive this season.

Hi Carl,

Thanks for turning me on to this site! Looks like a nice place. Fun diving with you this year, I’ll keep you updated as to how my Sunfish Pond gear is coming along. It should be an awesome dive site once we get the logistics figured out.

Current Plan: Steel 50, Freedom Plate, wetsuit, lightweight freedive fins, regs etc. I think that I can back-pack the entire kit. I’ll weigh everything after I web the harness. Next is a trial run to see how far I get with rocks in my backpack.

2016, my friend... ;)

Watching the larger boats running doesn’t look inviting

i just found out about this chatting site. you sound like an interesting fellow who i would like to speak wtth. we can then plan a dive. i also own a 23 foot bayliner which has an 8 foot ladder, 2 gps sounders and tank holders. i use to dive at maclearie park which is near my boat at belmar basin. my cell number is 732 236 8104 nights are the best time.
DiverfromBaskingRidge - 8/02/2015 9:18 AM
Absolutely will post on the next dive. I made a short video of what I could - mounting the GoPro to the dive light is not the way to go but I was trying to streamline my gear so I could help folks navigate the basin...

Thank you Carl for organizing Maclarie Park, I had an awesome time! Please include me on the next one.
DiverfromBaskingRidge - 7/18/2015 7:26 AM
Could not seem to load a video from Maclearie Park - so I am doing it this way.
Seahorses and a few critters...

I am not sure how to make this a hyperlink so when you click it goes to Youtube...

Maclearie Park Night Dive with seahorses
BeekeeperGreg - 7/14/2015 7:31 AM
Carl,
I am in. I will be on vacation down there the rest of the week doing other dives if anyone is interested.
Also, have my 18’ Center Console.

Looks like Friday 7/17 at 9:28pm is high tide for Maclearie Park - a night dive. I will be there if anyone would like to join. I should be there around 8pm or just after - in the parking lot.
Feel free to join as you can. I drive an SUV with a dive sticker on the back - looking to video some seahorses and get a decent long dive.
DiverfromBaskingRidge - 7/08/2015 11:19 AM
Diving Friday 7/10 on the Venture III Belmar NJ - 3 tank dive if anyone is interest - lobster and fish are the targets but anyone is welcome. The boat and crew are very nice. Depth is 80 feet and I use 32% - the third dive is generally around 70 feet or so depending on the site.

Diving Saturday 7/11 at Round Valley - 1 or 2 tank dive but looking for some basements from the older homes that were lost due to building the reservoir. Depth is about 50 feet but could be lower - really it is an exploration dive to see if we can find the outlines of the cellars and basements...

Let me know if interested in a dive.
