I visited Lake Phoenix, VA recently. It was great. It’s a long haul from the NY/NJ area, but worth it if you’re camping for a few days. Great grounds, good vis, and there were plenty of underwater amusements. The bass on the night dives are something to experience, nothing like Dutch. It seemed well managed, but you’re very much responsible for yourself and your own safety. No DM lookout stations. Night dives are anytime all night long if you’re camping. I will definitely go back later this summer.
