From LariatAdvance: Looks like we’re creating a new generation of stupid divers. I expect diver deaths to go up in the future. All you need to do is buy a computer and nothing else matters. Considering we live with cashiers who cannot make change without looking at a register, surprised? Anyways, I would stop before calling them "stupid divers", and seriously doubt this in itself will cause a big spike in injuries. But, as one who was sold a simple computer as a green newbie, computers are unnecisary, been using simple bottom timer last 16 years / hundreds of dives. Have long held the position that a typical 2 tank boat dive in SE FL, for example, highlights over-purchasing of timing device. And, have fairly recently witnessed a near-panic attack of a diver with overall good skills due to over-reliance on a computer without knowing how to properly set it, coupled with insufficient knowledge of how to "table out".
