I had a job offer from the USCG and almost moved there around 1990 but turned it down because I would have had a problem with my ex taking the kids that far from her but it would have been great for us as divers.
A couple of PR co-workers told me they actually liked the unemployment situation in that you worked for 6 months then got a 6 month vacation while a cousin did their job and they worked in the garden and traveled. One did retire from the Navy and move back to PR. He had been using his Navy pay to buy up homes and land in PR to rent out and now maintains them.
