I watched my wife’s OW and the instructor taught them to hold on to the inflator, problem was they were nervous and would squeeze it and inflate the BC.

If you do shore dives sooner or later you are going to get sand in the inflator and it will stick on, be prepared to disconnect the quick disconnect!

The reason early divers didn’t like power inflators is we started with airline vest and co2 emergency pull inflators, the pull knob would hang on a wreck and inflate the vest so most of use took the co2 cylinder off.

Here I am with an early horseshoe BC, this one had a regular inflator hose, the earlier ones used a smaller inflator like an airline or snorkel vest.
