The backplate should not affect what you are hooking to it. Personally I have a Dive Rite plate, Hollis webbing/harness, and use an OMS or Dive rite wing interchangably. The blackpate holes will be standard to take bolts, 11 inches apart if I remember correctly, and the same for the slots for the webbing. The only time you might run into issue is if you add a back pad, they tend to only match the manufatures BP, ie you need a Halcyon pad for a Halcyon BP. Otherwise everything can be different. The only thing you will need if going to a BP is a single tank adaptor if you are not diving doubles.
