7 years ago I took open water with my son at a dive shop. Equipment was very exspensive and they were non negotiable on prices. So I found another shop around the corner. Much friendlier staff much cheaper and willing to match any price even on the internet no hagle or hassle unlike others. So I spent thousands outfitting me and my son there. Found some 100 steel tanks on sale at another shop after checking prices it seemed like a good deal so I went back to buy some and the price went up even though they had some displayed on the floor of the shop.disapointed I returned to the previous shop that gave me a great deal and they gave me a better price than the sale unhonored at the shop I tried to buy tanks. Been to almost every shop in my area with different experience from them all some good some bad. But always came back to the shop that treated me no hassle hagle fair prices. This post reinforces my feelings that too many dive shops only care about pushing product to new divers and neglect divers once they have there main gear. Once trainig is completeted and they drain a diver from there initial funds very few offer dive oportunitys for the trained diver by offering dive trips or a dive club to keep divers diving. It seems like they through away alot of future busieness from there existing divers friends and family they could bring to there store.
